Install Rev Quake Watch on your phone or computer for one-tap access and alerts.
Rev Quake Watch shows earthquakes around the world as the reporting agencies publish them. It re-reads the United States Geological Survey (USGS) feed every 60 seconds, holds an open connection to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which pushes each event as it is released, and reads GeoNet for New Zealand.
How fast is it?
EMSC events usually arrive 2 to 10 minutes after the earthquake. USGS posts most events within 2 to 20 minutes, faster inside the United States. No public feed is quicker, because the waves must reach enough stations to locate the source.
How accurate is it?
Magnitude, location and depth are shown exactly as each agency reports them. First reports are automatic and are often revised after a seismologist reviews them. Every event is labelled automatic or reviewed. When two agencies report the same earthquake, the log marks it confirmed and shows each magnitude. For USGS events the detail view shows the published location and magnitude uncertainty.
What it does not do
This is not an early warning system and it does not predict earthquakes. For official tsunami warnings use tsunami.gov or your national authority.
